Part of living at Rocky Fork Lake is knowing where to grab dinner after a day on the water. These are the places Bryan and Rene actually go, and what we order when we get there.

Joey's Pizza

Where: State Route 753, a short drive from the lake

Joey's is a local favorite, and it is one of our regular stops. We usually go for the meatball subs, steak hoagies and potato wedges, and every so often the pizza, which is delicious. It is an easy carryout night after the lake.

Beechwood Carryout and Pizza

Where: 6501 Beechwood Lane, Hillsboro, near the lake

Another longtime local favorite. We get pizza, Rene likes their salad, and for Bryan, the double cheeseburger is the absolute favorite. If you are staying or living on the lake, it is about as close and convenient as it gets.

The Dockside Restaurant

Where: 6452 Lucas Lane, Hillsboro, on Rocky Fork Lake

The Dockside is the new spot on the lake. It held its grand opening ribbon cutting with the Highland County Chamber of Commerce in July 2026, and with floor-to-ceiling windows and a balcony over the water, it is drawing guests from all over. We have been once so far, and the pulled pork sandwich and mac and cheese were great.

As of late October 2026, The Dockside lists hours of Thursday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., closed Monday through Wednesday. Hours can change with the seasons, so call ahead at 937-466-1007.

Good food is part of lake life

Having good local food close by is a big part of what makes Rocky Fork Lake an easy place to live, and Uptown Hillsboro is about 9 miles away for even more options.
